PM Praises National Bank Governor for Swift Action on Old, Stained, or Damaged US Dollars in Siem Reap

Phnom Penh: On Monday morning, July 22, Prime Minister Hun Manet extended his gratitude and commendation to the Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia for the prompt implementation of measures aimed at facilitating the circulation of old, stained, or damaged US dollar notes in Siem Reap.

“The challenges related to the distribution of old, stained, or damaged US dollars have significantly impacted the ability of people in the province to conduct business,” the Prime Minister stated. “During my visit to Pub Street on the night of July 17, 2024, I witnessed these difficulties firsthand.”

The Prime Minister expressed optimism that the National Bank of Cambodia’s efforts will alleviate these challenges, thereby improving the business environment for both residents and tourists in Siem Reap.

Prime Minister Hun Manet urged all branches of the National Bank of Cambodia in Siem Reap, along with private banks, businesses, and merchants in the province, to adhere to the new policy. He emphasized the importance of collective cooperation to ensure the smooth circulation of old or dirty US dollar notes, thereby preventing future inconveniences.
